Hey Jon,
I wanted to thank you for playing my record– Dark Sunny Land “Kon Taan Kor” last Friday as part of the BOC MOB MIT special. It was an honor to be played between Sonic Youth and Burma and I loved how it sounded supporting the Concert Report. I would welcome having it played behind the concert report or any other way you care to feature it.
I doubt that you would remember this, but you and I were toiling in the same vinyard maybe 20 years ago at TNE and we once ended up in a meeting together. After the meeting I introduced myself and asked if you were the same Jon Bernhardt who did radio on MBR. Turned out the answer was yes. I was a fan of BOC then and have kept up when I could — it helped me through some unemployed stretches later on, and I now realize I can hear it from the archives, even when I’m working. I’m long gone from TNE thankfully, but still do software QA in the financial industry (don’t tell anybody!) when I have to.
And I also have the Lothars on Camera Obscura…is there more?
Hope BOC goes on for many more years. Boston college radio is the best there is.
Thanks again!
Steve Painter
Steve!
I thought I recognized the name on the CD, and I do remember that 20(!) year old conversation, but I did not connect the two things. Crazy!
There are several Lothars CDs available for sale. Click the Lothars Merch link in the right column of this blog.
