People sometimes ask us, "Hey, Lothars! How can I get me one o' them theremin thingies? If you're looking for a theremin just like the theremin played by dear ol' Lothars, then buy one of the models below.
The Etherwave® Theremin Standard
by Moog Music
This was the first model of theremin purchased by both Jon and Kris. Jon has since upgraded to the Etherwave® Pro (see below), but Kris still uses this workhorse.
The Moog Etherwave® Theremin is a quality theremin with a design that retains many characteristics of the original theremins, including a five-octave pitch range and reliable spacing between notes for sophisticated playability. Antennas are nickel-plated 3/8" brass tube and the cabinet is furniture-grade hardwood, finished black. The Etherwave® is fitted with an adapter for mounting on a standard microphone stand. It ships with two video tutorials on one DVD – Clara Rockmore: the Greatest Theremin Virtuosa, and Mastering the Theremin, featuring Lydia Kavina.

The Etherwave® Theremin Kit
by Moog Music
Save some money, and have some fun at the same time! This is identical to the Etherwave® above, but in a do-it-yourself kit form. Several wiring points require soldering, but the circuit board is pre-built, so the electronics work is not very difficult. You'll probably spend more time sanding, staining and varnishing the unfinished wood cabinet.
Also like the pre-assembled theremin above, this ships with two video tutorials on one DVD – Clara Rockmore: the Greatest Theremin Virtuosa, and Mastering the Theremin, featuring Lydia Kavina.

The Etherwave® Pro Theremin
by Moog Music
Jon bought this theremin when he was ready to step up from his Etherwave® Standard. It features professional quality response and sound in a package designed both for beauty and portability. The unusual cabinet is a "love it or hate it" design, but Jon loves it.
The Pitch range of this instrument extends to 6 1/2 octaves. Both Volume and Pitch antenna response are tuned from wooden pitch and volume knobs. Other front panel controls include a range switch which allows for choosing one of three octave ranges; a lighted standby switch that allows the Etherwave® Pro to be on but silences the audio output; a timbre rotary switch used to select one of the five preset timbres (classic theremin tones); and waveform, brightness, and filter controls, which allow you to tailor your own personal theremin tone.
Also included is an adjustable tripod stand with a special fitting that locks the theremin into place
